Good song; nice quality synths and drum samples with a good melody. Just a little confused about why it's tagged as jazz...

OcularNebula responds:

thanks, man

yeah, the song is miscellaneous, but I thought it had some elements vaguely evocative of "jazz", e.g. sax, piano, one or two extended chords, melodies with grace notes, lol

but I know it's not, strictly speaking, jazz

I really like how the 5/4 feel works with the chord progression. Also, everybody pretty much kept perfect time throughout the song. Nice solos, too.

camoshark responds:

Thanks man, glad you enjoyed!

Very catchy chord sequences and good instrumentation throughout the song. I really like how the high, ambient bell works with the chords from pretty much 2:45 until the end. Great work.

Xanatdul responds:

I'm glad you like it. For some reason most of my songs contain some type of bell... :D

1:31 and on is really nice, especially the bass at 1:52.
It could use a stronger beat, though.
I really like the fact that the bass doesn't repeat much during to song.

Fantishow responds:

Thanks!

Pretty cool

I like dubstep, but in this song, the lack of a loud wobbly bass really brings out the simplicity of the beat. I really like that you chose good chords. Nice loop.

Glad to hear it!
Thanks for the score and review =]

8-bit jam!

I love the use of that square instrument! And I just noticed that the snare drum is the only drum in the entire track...
...was this made on famitracker?

Evil-Dog responds:

it was made in reason with 8-bit instruments
There's more than the snare, there's a bassdrum :)

Is that it?

No offence, but... seriously?
Not the song, though. The song is good. But how...
I agree with your "big double-yew tee eff." It's very well played, has a good melody, but really? 600 downloads?

I don't get it, but that's okay. Good song, case closed. 10/10 5/5

What came first, the chicken or the egg? If you try to fail and succeed, what have you done? How do 'Don't walk on grass' signs get put there? What was the best thing before sliced bread? Is the hokey pokey really what it's all about? How did this song get so many downloads? Life's many weirdass questions.

At first I really didn't like this song.

But then, I realized that there was nothing not to like about it.
Very joyful!
That sine wave reminds me of the color blue, which is why I think it really fits the Mare Carelia section of the game.

Really like the part around 0:27!

Famitracker sounds like a program that I might want to use. Is it free and if not, does it have a demo version?

auriplane responds:

It's free :-) Go to famitracker.shoodot.net

EDIT: Famitracker has moved to famitracker.com!

Cool

Not many people do actual techno anymore. Keep it alive!

Pocketpod responds:

I will!

Crazyawesome!!

I really like your synths that you used, and the chord sequence. I made a mix of this song too, but I haven't posted it yet. Plus it's not nearly as good as this one. I think I have the same program that you used to make this. So why aren't I that good? I especially like the beginning and how it's so liquid techno-trance. I can usually think up mixes like this but I can't really make them.
I think Blake Reary songs sound great when remixed like this.
Keep it up! 5/5 & 10/10

Thanks for the review. I'll be sure to get a listen of your mix when it's uploaded.
